THEATRE OF LAW
LOCATION: LONDON OR ONLINE
“Theatre of Law” is an innovative project introducing London primary school children to the legal and criminal justice system. The project begins with a launch session either at your school or delivered online by one of our facilitators. In this session, students will be introduced to different areas of law and be encouraged to think about the consequences of committing a crime. Students will then create their own mock trial, choosing a real local crime. You will be provided with a digital “Theatre of Law” Toolkit containing a broad range of teacher-led classroom activities to support pupils in creating their mock trial. Students will then visit the Royal Court of Justice to enact their trial in a real working courtroom, or take part in a virtual Courtroom Workshop.
Project aims
- Improve understanding of the justice system and what happens when someone breaks the law
- Give insights into the workings of the justice system and the roles of legal professionals
- Raise pupil aspirations to seek careers in the law, the courts and associated professions
