Picture This: Hope Celebratory Event

Wednesday 26 February, 5.30pm-7.30pm

FREE

Our current exhibition, 'Picture This: Hope', is an inspiring collection of black and white photographs, submitted by professional and amateur photographers from across the UK, that capture the essence of Hope. We’d like to invite you to our Picture This: Hope Celebratory Event on Wednesday 26 February.

What symbolises hope to you? Are you inspired by nature's resilience, acts of kindness, or the enduring human spirit? Maybe you want to explore what personal hope means to you, or what it means to society as a whole. Whether it's the small, everyday moments or grand visions of the future, the exhibition shares multiple interpretations of Hope.

The winners of the Creative Residency Prize and The Young Person's Award have been chosen by our panel of independent judges and will be announced during the evening! The People's Choice Award is based on votes from the general public and you can vote for your favourite in our online gallery or in person in the gallery. The winners of the People's Choice Award will be announced at the end of the exhibition, on Saturday 22 March.

Find out who's on the shortlist for the Creative Residency and Young Person's Awards below.

The evening will start at 5.30pm with refreshments and guests will be invited to explore the Picture This: Hope exhibition and how our communities have been responding to its themes.

Linked to the themes of Hope, during the evening there will be a free trial performance in our Criminal Courtroom, and Yuxi Hou, our Co-Production Creative Leader, will be running a free creative drop-in workshop to help you to create artwork to take home or display in the gallery. Scroll down for more information.

Tickets are free to reserve, but space is limited, so make sure to book yours soon. Please do let us know how many young people are coming with you by choosing the appropriate number of Age 5-17 tickets. Reserve your free place

During The Evening

Join artist Yuxi Hou for your chance to decorate a postcard with the theme of hope. Draw patterns or symbols that represent hope to you, write hopeful words and messages and add physical textures with decorative materials, creating interesting and unique postcards which can either be displayed in the exhibition space or taken home with you.

Linked to the theme of Hope, there will be a trial performance in our Criminal Courtroom during the evening. Join us at 6.30pm and take part in our courtroom performance, where 17-year-old Valentine Marshall is tried for the offence of 'rioting and burning Colwick Hall' during the Nottingham Reform Bill riots of 1831.
